BEGINNER & INTERMEDIATE LEVEL GUITAR LESSONS

TAKING GUITAR LESSONS CAN SOMETIMES BE INTIMIDATING. THERE'S A LOT OF INFORMATION AND WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU ARE LEARNING.

WHEN I BEGAN TAKING LESSONS AT 9 YEARS OLD, I HAD A INSTRUCTOR WHOSE MAIN GOAL WAS TO TEACH ME HOW TO READ SHEET MUSIC BY SHOWING ME CLASSIC FOLK SONGS. I WAS UNINSPIRED.  IT WASN'T A VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE AND I DIDN'T WANT TO CONTINUE. LUCKILY, A FEW MONTHS LATER MY TEACHER WAS REPLACED BY A YOUNG GENTLEMAN. IN OUR FIRST FEW LESSONS I WAS SHOWN HOW TO READ CHORD CHARTS AND TABLATURE BY LEARNING SONGS BY AC/DC, SCORPIONS, OZZY OSBOURNE, AND MORE. IT TURNED EVERYTHING AROUND FOR ME. I ENDED UP FINDING MY PASSION AND AFTER MANY YEARS WAS ABLE TO MAKE A LIVING BY PLAYING GUITAR. I LEARNED WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW.  THIS IS A COMMON STORY FOR MANY OF MY MUSICIAN FRIENDS.

TAKING A DEEP DIVE INTO EVERY BIT OF GUITAR THEORY AND LEARNING TO SIGHT READ IS IMPORTANT FOR MANY MUSICIANS. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU'D LIKE TO WRITE ORCHESTRAL PIECES OR BE ABLE TO PLAY IN A JAZZ ENSEMBLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT IS NOT THE CASE FOR EVERYONE. NOT EVERYONE NEEDS A DEGREE IN MUSIC. NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW HOW TO READ SHEET MUSIC. NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT THE LOCRIAN MODE IS. SOME PEOPLE JUST WANT TO SIT AND STRUM SONGS AROUND THE CAMPFIRE. SOME PEOPLE JUST NEED HELP LEARNING CLASSIC ROCK SONGS FOR THEIR COVER BAND. SOME PEOPLE JUST WANT TO LEARN THE BASICS AND HAVE FUN.

TESTIMONIALS

"I took guitar lessons with Corey for almost 2 years in Dallas, TX. As an adult who has never played a guitar before, I was nervous about being a newbie and worried that I wouldn’t be able to catch on quickly. No need to worry. Corey is one of the nicest guys you’ll meet, which makes you instantly feel at ease. He has an amazing amount of patience and a truly great teaching style that keeps the lessons interesting and fun. He works with you until you understand what you’re playing and the "why" behind songs, even going the extra mile to make sure you “get it.” Corey has been a stellar performer for years and brings that experience to help you learn. Having such a gifted musician as a guitar instructor is definitely a privilege."

"I took guitar lessons from Corey for several years. He made improving my guitar skills fun. If he still lived in Dallas, I would probably still be taking lessons from him."

"Corey is an excellent guitar teacher. He will work with you to figure out a game plan on concepts that you want to work on. He can break down technical aspects of songs and help you achieve learning the technique required to play them. Great investment in helping you further your guitar playing abilities."

"In my late-20s, I had been “playing” guitar for a couple of years before I sought out a teacher. Corey came highly recommended to me by a guitar tech and we went to work quickly. Rizzo can teach multiple styles - he can show you theory and scales. Then came the the way I learned best - we would listen to songs I liked and he would teach me how to play them. My knowledge of all types of chords grew exponentially. He would also intersperse songs he loved so that I could take the chords I knew to another level. This unlocked playing guitar for me and also changed the way I have listened to music.

With experiences being so important in life, my two years training under Corey was worth every bit of time and the money. I Can’t thank him enough. Highly recommend him for players of all ages. I’m in my mid-40s now and haven’t stopped playing."

" I can honestly say that, in the few short months that I spent as Corey's student, my skill as a guitarist easily doubled. He is an excellent and patient teacher who balances theory and finger exercises with music that is both challenging and suited to his students' individual tastes. If I ever find myself in the same town as Corey again, I will definitely hit him up for more lessons!"
